How to apply

Go to the official portal and select your visa type — Tourist, Business, or Transit.

Fill in your personal and passport details exactly as they appear in your passport.

Upload a clear scan of your passport bio-data page, a passport photo, and your travel or accommodation details.

Review everything carefully. You cannot edit your application after payment.

Pay online with Visa or Mastercard, then wait for approval by email.

Print your approved e-Visa. Immigration officers require a physical copy at the port of entry.

Before you apply
- Passport valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry.
- A return or onward ticket to show as part of your application.
- Apply at least 3 weeks before travel — processing can take from a few days up to two weeks.
- US citizens must apply for the Multiple Entry visa ($100) — there is no visa-on-arrival option.
- Zanzibar is part of the United Republic of Tanzania — your e-Visa covers both mainland and Zanzibar. No separate visa needed.
Watch out for scam sites
Never pay for visa "assistance" or "processing" on unofficial websites. The real government portal is free to access — the only cost is the visa fee itself, paid directly on visa.immigration.go.tz.
