Excursions & activities
Safaris — Northern vs Southern Circuit
Northern Circuit (Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire) is the classic, more developed route. Southern Circuit (Nyerere, Ruaha) is wilder and less crowded, with fewer other vehicles at sightings.
Mount Kilimanjaro treks
Machame, Lemosho, and Marangu are the main routes, each with different scenery, crowd levels, and acclimatization profiles. Look for KPAP-certified operators, who guarantee ethical pay and treatment for porters.
Zanzibar & day activities
Hot air balloon safaris (~$550–$600), Spice Tours ($20–$35), Safari Blue boat trips ($50–$80), and scuba diving are the most popular add-ons.
